Title: Worked out great
Review: I read the mixed reviews on this safe, and I admit to being a little nervous when I ordered it. Weighing in at 66lbs, it isn’t exactly something I’d want to try to ship back if I didn’t like it. I’m pleased to say that I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. The unit arrived in excellent condition, I did not see any signs of rust, dents, or other damage that were mentioned in some of the older reviews, and best of all the keys were outside the cabinet so no issues getting it set up & programmed. The other reviews are correct, this unit is quite tipsy before you mount it – to the point that we had a bit of difficulty setting testing out the location. But that is not a big deal & is to be expected on a compact unit like this. I did invest quite a bit of time & money “dressing it up”, following some recommendations by another reviewer & going off on my own a bit. I lined the inside with gray, adhesive-backed carpet squares from our local home improvement center to protect the firearms from metal-on-metal contact. Some have loosened up a bit, so with the benefit of hindsight I’d have hit them with some spray adhesive instead of relying solely on the adhesive from the squares.
Some other helpful items:
- Magnetic, battery powered LED light with motion sensor, Sylvania Part Number 72245. Hang it on the underside of the shelf with the magnetic mount, it turns on automatically when the door is opened.
- Eva Dry E-500 Wireless Dehumidifier. Fits on the top shelf; absorbs humidity. When it gets saturated you can plug it in to ‘recharge’ it. In retrospect I probably should have bought the unit that is one-size smaller as this one barely fits & takes up a lot of room in the safe.
- Rack’Em 3 Pistol Holster In-Safe Handgun Rack #6020 – Allows you to hang some larger handguns in the safe if you’re not using all the space for rifles.

Title: Exactly what I expected and needed
Review: Shipment/Packaging: The BARSKA Quick Access Biometric Rifle Safe arrived overnight if you don’t count the Sunday that I ordered it on (via Amazon Prime) in a tightly packed box with styrofoam on all three corners, top, bottom and added pieces over the handle and fingerprint reader. After carefully unpacking in case I needed to return it, I found it was in perfect condition, not a single ding, dent or scratch. All the accessories and parts were accounted for and in good condition as well. Safe/Size: After removing the shelf due to the length of my guns, I was able to fit two 12-gauge shotguns, a 20-gauge shotgun and a 22-rifle in the safe comfortably. So yes, it IS a 4 gun safe. None of them have scopes or long clips, the safe doesn’t really have the depth for that. The product is exactly what it’s advertised as, a small, quick access cabinet grade safe that will prevent your firearms from being easily handled by those who shouldn’t. The walls are thin and I can toss it on my shoulder, so yes, bolt it down and don’t expect it to hold up to an extended beating. The shelf will easily hold up to the weight of several boxes of ammo on it and is held in place on two welded in brackets by a single screw on each side. The loose piece of felt in the bottom is good enough for resting the butt of guns on. Carpet on the backside of the door and around the opening is a good idea if you’re worried about scratching your guns. You really shouldn’t have guns in this safe that are worth so much that it’s a big deal if they get a little bump or scratch though. Fingerprint Reader: The fingerprint system functions very well. The only finger that could trip it up was my pinky. Programming was easy and worked exactly as the directions instructed. I’ve tried unregistered fingers and it’s 100% on denying access. I’d say 98% on reading approved fingerprints. Latch & Handle: The handle is nice and solid with a very good, solid feeling latch. The bolts throw into the frame in 3 locations, top, bottom and side. The hinges are of a decent size and do not allow the door to be lifted off of them. I’m pretty sure the bolts, hinges and latching mechanisms would hold up longer than the walls of the safe if someone were to force entry. Summary: It’s a good deal, you’re getting a lot for the money. If you have average grade guns that you want to keep from curious family and friends and be able to access quickly, it’ll meet your needs. If you have thousands of dollars sunk into your firearms, look at something heavier with thicker walls.

Review: Was very happy with this purchase. Who knows what you get when you buy something like this online eh? Well was very solid construction, manual was easy to follow, fingerprint access works spot on. Only advice I would give is to store 5 or so different versions of your fingerprint so that if you don’t hit the exact position of only one stored biometric code you can still get in. Can store 100+ fingerprints but who really needs more than yourself going into it? Some minor drill holes weren’t aligned when attaching interior racks but it wasn’t hard to push a little more to make it fit. Easily fits 4 long rifles + 3 handguns.

Review: After returning to shooting after a long hiatus the question of firearm safe storage arose. Was initially looking at StackOn products but was turned off by the cheapness of construction and the door securing bars. Came across the Barska and decided to purchase one from Amazon (who knew they had gun cabinets/safes). Unit is solidly constructed with well designed door bolts. The biometric lock works great and the manufacturer did a great job in supplying an external power source (in case the internally held batteries lose their juice) as well as a well hidden key lock for manual opening. The only thing that a potential buyer should consider before buying the Barska is do you wish to store shotguns in it because while the internal vertical space is perfect for most rifles, the longer barrels typically associated with shotguns will not clear the internal ammo/accessory shelf. While initially fearing the interior might be cramped, four rifles (three with scopes) fit quite handedly. Wish that Amazon had this model in a 8-gun size with the added height to accomodate shotguns.

Review: Safe was faulty and wouldn’t open. Packaging was in fine condition when received; however I could hear loose hardware bouncing around inside the safe when I moved it around trying to get it opened. This tells me that the quality of the build is low and that pieces came apart or loosened during transportation. A safe of this price range should be built to last many years of use and abuse. Strong suggest you stay away from this one. I had to return it to Amazon which wasn’t an easy task given it’s size and weight.
